Outstanding Success at the Young Scientist Exhibition


We extend our warmest congratulations to Oisín Howley, Maeve Fitzpatrick, Rachel Stockil, Rhys Coppinger, Ivan Movchan and Ben Baronaitis, who proudly represented our school at the Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS, Dublin, at the weekend. Each student presented an excellent project, and we are immensely proud of their hard work, dedication, and achievement.

A special word of thanks and congratulations goes to Mr TJ Quinn, whose outstanding mentorship and guidance played a vital role in supporting the students throughout their journey. We would also like to sincerely thank Ms Margaret Moore and everyone involved for their commitment and support.

Award Winners and Special Recognition

A huge congratulations to Oisín Howley, who was awarded Third Place in the Social and Behavioural Science category for his project “Assessing How Well Junior Cycle Prepares Students for Senior Cycle” – a fantastic and well-deserved achievement.

Oisín also received the Fr Tom Burke Bursary, a prestigious special award presented to the individual or group deemed by the judges to be the best communicator at the exhibition. This is a significant honour, and Oisín is undoubtedly a very worthy recipient. Well done, Oisín!

Highly Commended Projects

Special congratulations to Maeve Fitzpatrick and Rachel Stockil, whose project “The Ripple Effect”A Study of How a Policy Change Around First Year PE Uniforms Can Affect a Whole Community – was Highly Commended by the judges.

We also commend Rhys Coppinger, Ben Baronaitis and Ivan Movchan for their project “Wool It Grow”Can Wool Be Used as a Natural Alternative to Peat-Based Composts? Their work attracted significant attention and admiration from both judges and members of the public throughout the exhibition.
