Cashel hosted St. Flannan’s, Ennis, for the Munster Senior Cup tie on Tuesday of last week. The home side made a strong start, with some lovely passes given. Donal Reade was working hard on the wings. On the twenty-seventh minute Caolan O’Gorman delivered a beautiful ball along the line, Craig Condon collected and finished it clinically to the net. Goalie Ciaran Collins had to come off injured and was replaced by Brendan Lonergan. Shortly before half-time, sloppy play in the Cashel box allowed St. Flannan’s through for the equaliser.
Conor Conneally came on for CCS at half-time. On the re-start, both teams applied huge pressure. Cashel survived some close call shots and fought for a draw. In the penalty shoot-out, Caolan O’Gorman, Mark Shortt, Dean Thompson, Conor Conneally, and James Harding found the target while Flannan’s missed with their last effort. Five classy penalty shots, and a bit of luck, and wholehearted effort by the entire team won the game for the Community School.
