Niall Mellon House-Builders

The final steps are being taken this week by the school’s eight house-builders in preparation for their departure for South Africa on this coming Saturday 10th November. Nine long months of anticipation, fundraising, inoculations, briefings, detailed planning and eager waiting will come to a head when the group fly out to Capetown on Saturday in company with hundreds of other Irish volunteers. Then, when they touch down there on Sunday morning, they will go straight to work building houses for families whose only shelter up to now has been rickety tin shacks.

The school group is comprised of six Sixth Year students and two teachers, namely; Roisín Crowe (Dundrum), Kate Fanning (Cashel), Miriam Murphy (Boherlahan), Cian Laffey (Cashel), Cormac O’Donnell (Poulmucka), Conor Moore (Dundrum), and teachers Caitriona Ryan and Michael Purcell.

Every good wish goes with them on their long journey and heroic work.
