Munster Handball Victory for Daniel Hayes

Last Saturday three students  travelled to Broadford Co Limerick to represent Cashel Community School in the Munster Schools Handball Championship. In the Intermediate doubles category Padraig O' Donoghue and Jonathan Walsh had a very convincing win over Colaiste na Chraoibhin Fermoy in the semi-final, but were defeated in the Final by Colin Corbett and Niall Bolton of St Josephs Tulla Co. Clare.

Daniel Hayes was the Cashel representative in the Junior singles category. The semi- final saw Daniel get through over Glen McNamara of Hazelwood College in two straight games. In the Final Daniel faced Brian Fahy of St Josephs Tulla Co. Clare. The two players provided a very entertaining first game with some great rallies and skillful play from both sides. The first game went to St Josephs to a score of 15 – 7. In the next game Daniel's determination shone through as he showed real grit to win 15 – 12. The third game was a real display of fitness from Daniel and Brian but it was the exhibition of killing the ball in the right corner by Daniel that led him to a 15 – 7 victory.

Congratulations to Daniel on his Munster win, and the very best of luck to him in the All Ireland Semi- Final.
