Munster Handball Colleges Competition 2011

This years Munster Colleges handball competition took place in Broadford and Cappagh Co Limerick.

First Year Doubles- Killian Darcy and Conor White
These two students only took up the game at the start of this school year and have shown great improvement over this time. The standard was high and the cashel lads were defeated in two straight games by Michael Wheelan and Jamie Morrissey of Limerick. The lads are determined to be back next year with more experience under their belt.

Junior Singles- Jonathan Walsh.
The junior singles category is always a tough one and this year was no exception. Jonathan has just returned to the game following a hand injury but still played well against Kurt Bowes of Cork, however Bowes was the stronger player on the day and defeated Jonathan in two straight games.

Junior Doubles- Padraig O'Donoghue and Daniel Hayes

Read about their win in the news artical 'Munster Final Win'.

Intermediate Singles- Kevin Ryan.
Kevin, being younger than his opponent, Ciaran Malone of Clare, lacked the necessary experience and was beaten in two games despite a very good effort.

Intermediate doubles- Niall fitzgerald and Adrian O’Dwyer.
Having beaten Nenagh in a County play off last week, the lads faced Barry McMahon and Mark Pewter of Clare in the Munster semi final. The cashel lads prooved too straon for clare, taking the match in two straight games. The Munster final saw Niall and Adrian face Padraig Quish and Eamon Davern of Limerick. This was a thrilling match with nice skills on display from both sides. It came to a tie break game in the end and Cashel lost out to a score of 15-11.
