Celebrate Us Week in Cashel Community School

Last week CCS was alive with colour as the school marked Celebrate Us Week. The week started with students sharing their native language and customs with the school community over the intercom, later in the week students in Room 20 collaborated together and invited staff to a lovely coffee morning, staff received spot prizes with a global theme.

On Wednesday students from the Student Council and Amber Team helped raise the rainbow flag. CCS celebrates diversity and individuality, supporting all pupils.

Throughout the week students in SPHE classes were reminded of being active ally’s to classmates by being supportive and having empathy. Students were reminded “awareness is good but action is better” and that CCS is a safe space for everybody and students are encouraged to just be themselves.

On Thursday our fantastic cleaning staff, caretakers and school bus drivers were gifted tokens of appreciation from the student body.

The PE hall was alive with music and cultural displays on Friday, this year a record twenty-two countries were represented. Students assisted by their parents cooked many beautiful dishes for our annual Culture Day, beautiful outfits and special artefacts were displayed. First year students were treated to many musical displays and some amazing Irish dancing. This special event provided the opportunity to make new friendships and foster greater understanding of the many cultures represented in our school. To close our week, we marked International Women’s Day, all our staff received a positive affirmation and our amazing school secretaries received tokens of appreciation. We would like to thank everybody who helped us celebrate this special week we are very privileged to have such a vibrant school with such diversity.
