CCS Girls win Football Blitz


Cashel Community School were winners of the Under 15 (C) Tipperary Ladies Football Post Primary School Blitz held in Rockwell College on Wednesday May 10th 2017. Two groups represented our school to compete in the blitz, with both teams putting in a fantastic effort. The second team, consisting of a panel of 15 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students started out against the Presentation Secondary School, Clonmel, resulting in a narrow defeat. But that did not dampen the girl’s spirits as their positive attitude and enthusiasm led them to win the next game against Scoil Mhuire, Carrick-on-Suir on a score line of 4.01 to 1.05. From here, the team progressed to the quarter final and played against the Ursuline Convent, Thurles. With fantastic performances from Claire Delaney, Katie Sherlock and Ciara Gahan, the girls defeated the Ursuline 3.05 to 0.02. Next up was St. Annes Secondary School, Tipperary in the semi-final. The girls put on a great display and came out winners on a score line of 3.05 to 0.02. The final consisted of a replay of the first game against Presentation Convent, Clonmel. With fantastic performances from Aoibhe Gayson Molloy, Emma Ryan and Sinead Furlong the Cashel side powered to victory, with a winning goal from Lucy Fogarty. A fantastic day out was had by all.
