Rugby U17 Blitz 2017
Cashel’s u17 rugby team travelled to Nenagh Ormond RFC grounds to play a blitz at the end of February. They were up against a very strong Nenagh CBS team. The teams competing were Cashel CS, Nenagh CBS and Nenagh College. Unfortunately Saint Ailbes could not make it. Cashel had enough to make two teams to cover for Saint Ailbes. Cashels first match was against their second team. Great tries by Cian Bargery, John Ryan and Declan Kennnedy saw the win for Cashels first team. Cashels second match was against Nenagh College. Cashel got off to a good start from tries by Cian Bargery and Jack O Rourke. Nenagh brought it back by leading 22-18. In the last five minutes of the match, Cashel were at Nenaghs five meter line when Eoghan Mcloughlin got the ball and went through three of the Nenagh defenders to score the winning try. The match ended 25-22 to Cashel. Cashels third match was against a very strong Nenagh CBS team who had plenty of talent on the pitch. The CBS proved to be the strongest on the day – in the last few minutes of the game Cashel got onto the scoreboard when John Ryan intercepted the ball and had enough pace to sprint the whole length of the pitch to score a try. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough and Cashel lost 17-7.
