The second round of the Corn Phádraig competition pitted the Community School against Doon C.B.S. on last Wednesday, in Sean Treacy Park. The opening ten minutes were “even stephen”, with both sides scoring 1 – 1 in that period. By midway in the half, CCS had moved two points ahead, 1 – 4 to 1 – 2, with several players notching points. Doon then took control for most of the second quarter, adding 1 – 4 unanswered. However in the final minutes of the this half, Cashel secured two points from play, leaving the interval scoreline in Doon’s favour, 2 – 6 to 1 – 6. Regrettably, Cashel lost a player to a red card just before the half-time whistle. Upon the resumption, the sides traded points. The combination of a stiff breeze and one-man advantage saw Doon exert dominance for much of the second half. To Cashel’s credit, they continued to challenge and in the final ten minutes added 2 – 1 to their tally. However, it was too little too late. Final score : CCS 3 – 9, Doon CBS 2-16. Team: Conor Butler, Shaun Coffey, Aidan O’Connell, Shane O’Connell, Paddy Ryan, Simon Delaney, Michael Fox, Kevin O’Donnell, James Ryan (W), Ciarán Flanagan, Niall Fitzgerald, Josh Keane, Oisin Slattery, Dylan Fitzell, Dean Thompson.
