Senior Hurlers Qualify

Senior Hurlers Qualify.

The Community School’s senior hurlers have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Munster colleges Corn Phádraig thanks to an impressive victory over St.Joseph’s, Kilmallock last week. Played at the fine facilities of Lattin G.A.A. club, the Limerick team had the benefit of a significant wind in the first half. Excellent work by the Cashel defence anchored by James Cummins curtailed the Kilmallock attack, while Cashel’s Killian Loughman, James Casey and Michael Ryan put the opposing defenders under constant pressure. At the interval only three points separated the teams: Kilmallock 1-7, Cashel 1-4.

Cashel had the wind at their backs in the second half but it was Kilmallock who opened the better and stretched their lead. A superb goal from Seanie O’Halloran brought Cashel back into the game. Josh Keane landed a point to level the game and then an intense mid-field battle ended with Walter O’Carroll rifling over the bar. Scores continued to flow from the Tipperary boys, with Josh Keane, James Doyle, Walter O’Carroll, James Casey and Killian Loughman on target. Final score: C.C.S. 3-15, St. Joseph’s, Kilmallock 2-10.

There was much to admire about this team performance: when the challenge was greatest, the response was highest.
