Senior Footballers reach Munster Final

On Wednesday, our Senior football team overcame SMI Newcastle West in a tough game to reach the Munster Final on a scoreline of 12 points to 1-3.  Cashel had an excellent first half despite playing against a strong breeze and went 4-0 up before long.  Gearoid Slattery brought off a fantastic one-on-one save which boosted the boys morale further.  Cashel advanced further and were leading at half time 7 points to 3.

SMI opened stronger in the second half but the Cashel forwards worked tirelessly and drew fouls from the SMI defenders.  Craig Condon was excellent on free taking duty and kept Cashel in touch.  We held out against a lot of pressure due to the high work rate and spirit exhibited by the team.  This was further highlighted when SMI goaled as the Cashel boys responded by  getting the next three scores.

Well done to the team and their coaches, teachers Peter Creedon and TJ Quinn.  The Munster Final is fixed for 2nd of March against Listowel of Kerry.
