Healthy Eating02 Nov 2015
Healthy Eating week took place in Cashel Community School from Monday the 12th of October to Friday the 16th October. The aims of the week were to promote healthy food options and to create an awareness of the benefits of exercise. During the week, healthy food samples were distributed to all students, students were given a bookmark with ideas for healthy snack options to optimise their study habits, there was a talk from sports nutritionist Michael fennelly from LIT and some students took part in fitness classes provided by B2A gym and the schools PE department.
One of the highlights of the week was the "Teacher Cook Off" which took place at lunchtime, ably compered by Deputy Principal Margaret Moore and judged by Principal John Gallagher and sponsor Joe Ahern of Rock House Catering.
The Healthy Eating Committee is most grateful to the other sponsors, including The Bakehouse, Glanbia, Ely's Centra, Hayes' Farm Two Mile Borris, Tipperary Spring Water, Super Valu, The Apple Farm Cahir, Bord Bia, Aldi and Lidl, who provided milk, water, yoghurt, fruit, cheese and many more foods and to the fitness instructors and nutritionist who gave their time voluntarily to highlight the importance of healthy eating and lifestyle.
