6th Year students graduate

The aforementioned festive air was set in place on last Thursday night when staff, parents and Sixth Year students gathered for the 2011 Graduation Mass. Much effort was devoted by students and staff to preparing for this memorable event. “Staying Connected” was the selected theme which was reflected upon by the students through several mediums such as Scripture, artwork, music, symbols and prayer. Celebrant of the Mass was Fr. Bernie Moloney, with considerable input from the R.E. Department – Ms. Ryan, Ms Gibson, Ms. Carey, Ms C. O’Connor, Ms Byrne, Ms. White – from Music teacher Mr. Murray, Deputy-Principal Mrs Skehan and from many other staff members.
After the Mass, school Principal Mr. Eddie Morrissey addressed the gathering, as did Year Head Mr. John Scully. Each graduate was then presented with a specially crafted school pin by Mr. Scully and Mr. Creedon. Aine Kennedy and Joe Murphy spoke eloquently on behalf of the graduates, recalling, with appreciation and humour, their years at CCS. As the strains of “Never Forget” echoed through the hall, Mr. Morrissey launched the 2011 Yearbook and commended its editors Owen Quirke and Robert Anglim. As a parting gift, each graduate received as copy of the yearbook from the hands of their class Tutors – Mr. Creedon, Ms. Redddan, Ms. B. O’Connor, Ms. Codd, Ms. Sheils, Mr. Farrell, Mr. O’Meara, Ms. Murphy and Ms. Gibson. Yes, it was an evening the graduates will “never forget”. Best wishes to them as they prepare to sit the Leaving Cert examinations.
